Roy F. Bordeau

President & Owner of Riverview Funeral Home

Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer since 1975

Roy was born and raised in Schenectady, NY. His mother, Mary Jane Wilkinson, was born and raised in Troy, therefore, Troy was like a second home to the Bordeau family. Roy became interested in the funeral business from an early age, having attended funerals of relatives, many of which were conducted from the Riverview Funeral Home.

In 1974, Roy graduated with honors from the Mortuary Science Program at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY. Roy served his state required residency training at the prestigious Marshall W. Tebbutt's Sons in Albany, NY. Roy received his funeral director's license in 1975.

In 1980, Roy began a “Professional Trade” business, supplying professional services such as embalming and cosmetology services to several area funeral homes. However, he always wanted to operate his own funeral home. This lifelong dream came true in September of 2011. Mr. Michael Horan asked Roy to join him at the Riverview Funeral Home.

Roy has always considered it the greatest privilege to assist families in their time of loss and grief. He has always considered funeral directing a vocation rather than just an occupation.

Roy has been a church organist since the age of 14 and met his wife, Anne Marie, also a church organist, when their two churches merged in 1975. They have a daughter, Andrea Marie, who is married with 3 children living in Nashville, TN and employed by the Vanderbilt University as Manager of Global Safety and Security.

“I feel privileged to serve the community and the families who call upon my assistance at Riverview”.
