THERESA MARIE DAYTER

January 13, 1940 – September 18, 2026

Theresa Marie Dayter (Dupont), affectionately known as “Babe”, born on January 13, 1940, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love and cherished memories. She was the beloved daughter of her late parents, Theresa and Joseph Earl Dupont, and was the eldest of five children. Theresa was predeceased by her siblings Earl Dupont, John Dupont (Susan), and Patricia Kalenian, and is survived by her devoted sister, Deborah Foster - Mazzeo (Mike Mazzeo), who remained close to her throughout her life.

Theresa shared a long and steady life with her husband, Roger Dayter, with whom she spent 56 years. For more than five decades, they navigated challenges, changes, and milestones. Their marriage reflected resilience, practicality, and a shared commitment to facing life side by side, shaping the environment in which their family grew and thrived.

She was the proud mother of six children, including two sets of twins—a rare blessing that filled her life with joy, energy, and a deep family connection. Her children include Ann Marie Perrotte (Kevin), Brian Castle (Luanne), Kevin Castle, Michele Edgerly (Dave), Mark Dayter (Patricia), and her late son Keith Castle, whose memory remained forever close to her heart. Each of her children carries forward the lessons she taught through her quiet resilience, unwavering love, and deep commitment to family.

Her greatest joy was her growing family. Theresa was blessed with 14 grandchildren, each of whom brought light and pride into her life. She was predeceased by her beloved grandson, Nicholas John Castle, whose memory she held dearly. Her legacy continues through her 14 great‑grandchildren, who will grow up hearing stories of her strength, kindness, and the love she poured into her family.

Theresa was also part of a large and loving extended family. She cherished her many aunts and uncles, and she held close relationships with her nieces and nephews, always present in their lives with the same warmth and generosity she gave her own children. Family gatherings were filled with laughter, shared stories, and the unmistakable sense of connection she helped nurture across generations.

She enjoyed the simple things in life—quiet moments, familiar comforts, and time spent with the people she loved. Theresa found joy in camping, where she could relax in nature and appreciate peaceful mornings and long conversations around the fire. She loved traveling, and among all the places she visited, Nashville held a special place in her heart. Her deep love of classic country music made every trip there feel like a homecoming. Whether listening to timeless country songs or exploring new places, Theresa embraced life with gratitude and a gentle spirit.

Theresa's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, September 24th in the Chapel of the Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue from 11 AM until 1 PM.  A Catholic Prayer Service will be conducted in the chapel beginning at 1 PM.  Interment will immediate follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Middletown Road, Waterford.
