STEVEN PAUL HIPWELL II OBITUARY
MAY 23, 2026
Steven Paul Hipwell II, 29, of Schodack Landing, NY, passed away on May 18, 2026, after a long and difficult struggle with depression. He was born in Sodus Point, NY, on June 27, 1996, and was lovingly raised by his parents, Steve and Sheree Hipwell, in East Greenbush, NY.
Steven had a deep love of music, a unique collection of vinyl records, and a special joy in seeing his favorite bands perform live. He also loved animals, photography, urban exploring, and all things spooky, especially the works of Edgar Allan Poe, as well as the peace of a late-night drive. In his spare time, he was often off on some kind of adventure and was also an experienced paranormal investigator. He was known for his remarkable memory and could be relied upon to immediately recall specific dates, names, and facts. Steven cherished the time he spent with his best friend, Aaron, and brotherhood around the holidays and for an annual hiking/camping expedition with them.
In addition to his parents, Steve and Sheree Hipwell, Steven is survived by his twin sister, Sierra (Stevie) Hipwell; his older sister, Cassie Franklin; his grandmother, Maryann Hipwell; his aunts, Terri Bergh and Suzanne (Joseph) Malta; his uncles, William, Jeffrey, and Thomas Hipwell; his cousins, Dawnn Antoon, William Hipwell, Christian Bergh, Robert Bergh, Martha (Tim) Jodeit, Elizabeth (Thomas) Nobles, Eric (Monique) Buchinski, Patrick (Jennifer) Buchinski, and Samantha (Hector) Malta. He also leaves behind his beloved pets, Sigge, Shandy, and Summer. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Eric Wardman, and the family dog, Sandor.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30, at Rockefeller Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a short service to follow.
Steven’s adventurous spirit and loving heart will remain with all who knew him. Memorial donations may be made to National Alliance on Mental Illness Capital Region NY.
