Watervliet, NY
Margaret Radliff passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, where she was trained as a registered nurse more than 60 years ago. A loving daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother, Margaret was kindhearted and devoted herself to taking care of others. She worked as an RN at Leonard in Troy, along with Ellis and St. Clare’s Hospitals in Schenectady. While establishing a home and raising a family in southern Saratoga County, she became the neighborhood nurse, patching up many children in the kitchen or dining room. Eventually, she took great care of her husband, Bob, who battled a neurological illness for many years.
She was proud to have grown up in Troy and stayed grounded in her working-class roots. She started work at age 14 as a Candy Striper at St. Mary’s Hospital, Troy, and attended Catholic Central High School. She was the first grandchild of an extended family and dearly loved all her Trojan cousins. St Patrick’s church was the anchor of the neighborhood, providing many fond memories of attending mass then having breakfast nearby with the family clan. Margaret was a devoted Catholic, volunteering for many events and helping to educate youth at St.Mary’s of Crescent.
Margaret loved visitors, colors, painting, the ocean, her pets, big band music, and any kind of shopping with her granddaughter Abigail. She was also very proud of her grandson, Schuyler, an Apache Helicopter Pilot and Captain in the U.S. Army. Margaret was very generous to all who crossed her path and an incredible hostess for events and dinners of any size, on any occasion. Margaret was predeceased by Bob in 2019, her husband for 55 years, as well as her parents; William and Jane Kinner. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth (Cliff Hazen), who was with her at the end of her life journey, son Bob (Alison), grandchildren Abigail and Schuyler (Sahiti), brother Joe Kinner (Linda) and sister Mary Zlotnick (Joe), along with many nieces and nephews. Over the years, Margaret and family were grateful for support from many relatives, friends and personal assistants.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 19,2026 from 4pm to 6pm at The Riverview Funeral Home, 218 Second Ave, Troy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday August 20, 2026 at 10:30am at St. Marys Church Crescent, 86 Church Hill Road, Waterford.
Interment to follow at St. Peters Cemetery, Troy. In Margaret’s memory please consider contributing to Double H Ranch (a fun camp for children with serious illnesses located in Lake Luzerne), or any charitable organization seeking to make the world a better place.
