Selkirk- Jacob R. Reed, Sr., 78, of Selkirk passed away at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, NY following a bout of cancer. With the love and compassion from his family, neighbors, friends and the incredible team of St. Peter's Hospice and the Staff of the Albany VA he was able to have a peaceful journey to "the other side". In 1953 Jake enlisted at the age of 17 in the U.S. Marine Corps. And served proudly until 1955. Bald-headed Jake enjoyed a long career with KC Refrigeration. Survivors include his children, Bonnie Marie, Theresa Ann, Jacob Jr., Sherry Jean, his five grandchildren and eight grandchildren, his sisters Wyneta (Bess), Antonia (Toni) and brothers John and Louis as well as nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive. At his request services will be held privately.
