Claudia Carol Friedel, 71, of Nassau, New York, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on December 12, 1954, in Rochester, New York, Claudia was the devoted daughter of the late Thomas and Marie Coalts. A woman of compassion and dedicated service, she pursued a career in nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She found great fulfillment in providing care for the Sisters of Saint Joseph at St. Joseph’s Provincial House in Latham. Her professional journey also included service at the Holiday Inn in Latham and a supervisory role with the Rensselaer County ARC.
Beyond her professional life, Claudia was a woman of simple joys and deep loyalties. She cherished her Saturday shopping excursions with Lizzy, Garry, and Danielle and frequented Crisp Cannoli’s. A passionate sports enthusiast, she was a steadfast supporter of the New York Yankees.
Claudia was reunited in death with her beloved husband, Alan Friedel, whom she married on September 16, 1989, in Troy, New York; he preceded her in death on May 24, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Marie Lane.
Her legacy of love continues through her children: Garry Lane, Elizabeth (David) Brundige, Alan Friedel II, and RoseMarie Adams. She is also survived by her siblings, Darlene (Ray) Marsett and Ralph Coalts, as well as her four cherished grandchildren: Danielle, Nicholas, Landon, and Ryland.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects during calling hours on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, located at 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street), Troy, NY 12180. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Deacon Bob Sweeney officiating.
Interment will be private for the immediate family in the Gerald B.H. Solomon - Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Alan.
In lieu of floral tributes, and in accordance with Claudia’s personal wishes, memorial donations may be directed to the following organizations: Make-A-Wish Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project or the Rensselaer County ARC.
