Obituary

Troy Cecelia M. Osterhout, 81, formerly of Schaghticoke and Mechanicville, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013 at Samaritan Hospital, Troy after a brief illness. Cecelia was born in Latham, NY to the late Lemuel and Elsie Simmons. In her youth she was educated in a one-room schoolhouse. Before starting her family, Cecelia was employed by Fuller Brush Co. After raising her family she returned to work at American Linen and finally at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. Family was most important to Cecelia who loved spending time and sharing holidays and special events with them. She was a jovial, ever friendly person with a big heart and even bigger smile. Cecelia loved flowers and enjoyed receiving them. She always looked forward to having a cup of tea and chatting with friends. Cecelia was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Frederick W. Osterhout who died on June 15, 2001. She is survived by her children: Martha (the late Richard) Liburdi of Maplewood, Karen (Mike) Lockhart of Argyle, Frederick Gary Osterhout of Lansingburgh, Brenda (Andrew) Leibert of Troy, Brian William Osterhout of Watervliet and Laura (James) Bousa of Schenectady. Cecelia is also survived by her brother, Thomas (Lucy) Simmons of Northville as well as 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren a niece and nephew. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday afternoon at 1 PM at the Riverview Funeral Home, Inc., 218 2nd Avenue & 104th Street, Troy, NY 12180. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also call at the Riverview Funeral Home on Thursday from 11am to 1pm. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery, Schaghticoke, NY.
