Bonita Bonnie M. Ryan Smith, 50, of 1st Street, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peters Hospital. Born and raised in Troy, she was a lifelong city resident. Her father Harold Ryan predeceased her. Bonnie will be remembered for her love of music, especially The Oldies, wrestling, crossword puzzles and Facebook games. Bonita is survived by her mother, Carol (James) Ray of Covington, GA, two children: Jerome Smith of Albany and Katrina Smith of Troy; siblings: Carol Ann Ryan of Troy, NY, Barbara Brown of Schenectady, NY, Tommylee Pettiway of Troy, NY, Harold Ryan, Jr., of Indianapolis, IN and Jason Pettiway of Albany, NY; grandchildren: Jerome Smith, Jr. and Kalin Smith, Devlin Ryan and LaShaun Merritt, Jr. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and her feline companion Diamond. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, December 9th at 4 PM, from the Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th St.) Lansingburgh. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 PM, prior to the service.
