Barbara (Hammond) Brenenstuhl, 76, of Melrose, New York, passed away on April 24, 2016 at her home after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Barbara was the daughter of the late John and Mildred Hammond of Stillwater, N.Y. She graduated from Stillwater High School in 1956 and attended Samaritan School of Nursing graduating in 1960. Barbara was employed by Leonard Hospital until it closed in 1996. She then worked as a private duty nurse until retiring. She enjoyed traveling, boating, camping and swimming with her close friend, Barbara Fillian at the Lansingburgh Boy's Club and the YMCA in Marco Island, Florida. Barbara, with her husband, spent many happy times with Dot and Dick Whinnery for the past 20 years in Goodland, Florida. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Richard E. Brenenstuhl, and her blended family, daughter Alicia (Wiltsey) Fry, step-children Karla Streeter, Eric (Janice) Brenenstuhl, Dana (Joe) Pierre and Dawn Brenenstuhl, and her best friend, Carol Stone. Her grandchildren James and Katherine Fry, Rebecca (Scott) Willeburgher, Nikoli Streeter, Margaret Brenenstuhl, Travis Pierre and her step great-grandchildren Matthew and Joshua Willeburgher. The family wishes to thank the many people who cared for Barbara during her illness including Jamie, Wendy, Debbie, Sandy, Colleen, Holly, Mary, Marcia, Pat, and Tammy.
